As I viewed a photograph of an alley enclosed by tall buildings, I was struck by the presence of so many thick, dark vertical lines. It seemed already more a drawing than a photo. I loved the impression of grit and grime accumulated over many years, and I loved the brick patterns and graffiti as well.
